I too have seen the light, and it doesn’t hurt!
Earlier in the week, I contacted them about an initial appointment, and they booked me in for one this afternoon.
auntysarah had also been here recently, and she mentioned a new (more effective, but slightly more expensive) process called SHR.
So, on the way, I got Stagecoach Cambridge 16010 on Service 26, initially around Royston, then outward to Cambridge. The bus follows most of the A10, except going off to run into Melbourn and Foxton villages. I arrived at Drummer Street coach station in central Cambridge, walked around to Emmanuel Street subway for lunch, before deciding to kill some time. I saw one of various “our day in the Citi” adverts, but this one (on the back of 18634 was my favourite of the lot!
I had Trident/ALX400 18338 on Service 1 to Cambridge railway station (see what you can do with a DayRider Plus - £4.50), before getting off and waiting at the end of Brooklands Avenue.
A bit closer to time, and I walked in, filled up the forms, and waited for my consultant. Ruth took me upstairs, and explained everything in as much detail as you liked. As the time was there (and a patch test was not needed), I decided to let her loose on the lower bit of my face (around the chin) to see how effective it was. The treatment doesn’t hurt – the best it can be described is leaving an electric razor out in the hot sun for an hour or two. She did apply lots of cooling gel beforehand and then gave me a cold air hose to cool down my lower face. That cold air can quickly get too cold though – you only need a little bit. She described it as “relatively pain free” – and truthfully, it was.
After paying, I left Brooklands Avenue on a uni4 (Dart/Plaxton 35104), which I took to Silver Street. I thought “citi” was just a brand name, but there is a “citi4” and a “uni4”. Perhaps confusing if you’d not researched this, but as I’d done so before my first weekday in Cambridge, i.e. today, then I was alright! After a look around the bookstores, got a text from Caroline to say she was on the Park & Ride bus, coming into town after work (finishing a little early, being the day they packed away from the temporary building).
After going for coffee and discussing our days up to that point, we had a walk up the river, through the park, and had a really good “last evening” together. We had a look in at the cinema at the Grafton Centre, but saw nothing worth exciting us, so we decided to head for home. After walking down the fixed up escalator (turned off), we saw a Trumping ton Park & Ride (blue) bus departing. The next bus (every 10 minutes) didn’t show, but the next one afterwards was 18634 again. On the road back, saw one blue Trident being driven back to the depot by a mechanic, and another blue Trident in at the side of the road, broken down! That’s why the 20-minute gap opened up… never mind, we made it back to Trumpington, where we attempted to recreate the back end of the bus advert…
We called for a takeaway from the Masala Takeaway, and it was rather good! I then started to get a bit teraful (realising I was heading home - see yesterday - told you it would happen!), but then we watched Star Trek IV, which was very amusing, before heading for bed. You can see the pictures from around Cambridge here.
