Tom Wilson

When I was doing the list of notable days from the last few years, I blatantly (inadvertently) overlooked the death of Tom Wilson, back on 25th March 2004. The phrase “music legend” is very over-used, but never was it more the case than here. His show on Radio Forth (then Forth FM) “Stepping Out” went on for the best part of two decades, and (in days before the Internet) used to be taped and shared by dance music enthusiasts around the world! There was even a load of lads who would hire a van to drive into the transmission area, just to hear the show! After his untimely death, his website has been maintained as a tribute to the great man. Rest in peace brother, we are keeping the faith down here!

Just wanted to say thanks for the memories of Tom Wilson; Saturday nights were not complete without listening to Steppin' Out while getting ready for a night on the town!!

Aye, correct! Quite often I'd have the earphones on when I was on the way back from an Edinburgh/Fife trip, or if I was coming from Glasgow via Fife, the 1800 bus would catch the last bit of the show! I lived in the part of Dundee (Menzieshill) that could actually get Radio Forth, I think it was my gran who started getting me dabbling with weird radio stations, years before internet and DAB.
