Birthday evening out
Jan. 17th, 2008 11:03 amThe day went quietly but largely smoothly. Caroline returned home after work, and we left for Cambridge Leisure.
C thinks we’ve not been out as often as maybe we should have done, but she quoted something that Dr Curtis had said to her about lesbians being the biggest purchasers of home-watch DVD movies and rentals. (I didn’t ask). In any case, the calendar for this month looks exceptionally full for us both, and yes it’s been busy. Here was the ideal opportunity, to do something special for my birthday, and have an evening out too – even being able to accommodate C’s diet.
So, anyway, after finally finding a parking space on Level 3A, we went to Lucky Star. Before we mention this, it may be worth pointing out that a new Indian equivalent has opened further up on the 1st Floor (closer to the escalators) called Blue Spice, which may be worth checking out one of these days. Lucky Star is a well-known Chinese buffet in the ‘chav-plex’, and is popular amongst the local (substantial) Chinese community too. When we arrived, there were only a handful of tables occupied, but it was down to only a handful of vacant tables by the time we’d both had our fill. The chocolate cake is nice… and Caroline did find some substantial low-fat protein on offer. Well, they all had mushrooms in it, which she also enjoyed.
Secondly, we went for a movie. I’d liked the trailer (preview) we saw of P.S. I Love You, which seemed appropriate for a night like this. So, we did – and again, the cinema filled up from only a handful, to a fair few. The movie itself is very sweet and touching, and although I won’t spoil the plot, I must admit to laughing out loudly when one of the guys is coming out the shower, using a sock to protect his modesty, not realising that Holly is watching him…!
So, dinner & a movie – yes, very romantic. Very simple way to spend your birthday evening, and very enjoyable. Lots of sweet things said on the ride home (after 2300), and we got to bed shortly before midnight.
Thanks for that, Caroline!
p.s. I love you! :-)
