Most unlikely to work in a call centre...
Feb. 18th, 2008 07:59 pmOK, so when I said I had quite a bit to post, it is a fair mixed bag this week, and it's only Monday evening ya'know!
Anyway, a tiny bit of background - this is not far from where I used to work. So, if the Monsignor wants to take the bus, he could do no better than looking up scotbus.com/techpark (product placement there... you must see I'm feeling a little better already...)
Suspended priest’s new tax office job
A shamed Dundee priest has found a new calling — working in a tax office.
Monsignor Joseph Creegan was suspended from the Catholic Church after it emerged he’d had an 18-year relationship with a married woman. She had details of their relationship published and complained to the Bishop of Dunkeld after Mgr Creegan ended their affair — and bought a £300,000 house with a younger woman in Fife, although he insists their relationship is not sexual.
Mgr Creegan was priest at St Peter and Paul’s Church when he retired last year. He also spent years serving as the Roman Catholic representative on Dundee City Council’s education committee.
Just days after his suspension began, the shamed priest started a new job at the Revenue and Customs call centre in Dundee’s Technology Park.
It is understood he is still living in a flat on Riverside paid for by the Catholic Church.
A spokeswoman said, “The Diocese of Dunkeld does not feel it appropriate to comment on Mgr Creegan’s employment. There are a number of issues still to be resolved and the matter is under review.”
An HMRC spokesman added, “We cannot comment on individual cases, but we are an equal opportunities employer and anyone will be considered for a post irrespective of colour, creed, religion or age.”
