Monday 19th May – bus bash around Cambs, Beds, Northants & Milton Keynes
On the way back home from Milton Keynes on Saturday evening, I bought an X5 MegaRider Gold at £23.00 for the week. It is the cheapest option, given that I’m working in Milton twice this week, and the single fare home. Add this to a day out (the one-day ticket is £9.00) and you get the idea. Plus, it’s valid further than I can travel – literally – but some points may be good for future planning. So, with that in mind, today’s plans were to shop at St Ives Market (very nice craft stall and edibiles!), get a few routes that I’ve not done yet, and then carry onto Bedford and Northampton – and anywhere else that seemed like a good idea at the time.
So, left Royston just after 0900 yesterday, and;
16022 26 Royston Old North Rd opp Rock Road – Cambridge, Drummer St Bus Station
27584 554 Cambridge Bus Stn – St Ives Bus Station

16435 553 St Ives Bus Stn – Huntingdon Bus Station

Changeover, the bus goes back to the garage, and comes back on another service with a different driver…
16435 566 Hunts Bus Stn – St Neots Market Square

Had a look around St Neots (and lunch!) before…
52453 X5 St Neots Market Square – Bedford Bus Station

then
20809 ‘pluto’ P1 Bedford Bus Station – Northampton Bus Station
18104 X4 Northampton Bus Station – Milton Keynes Central Station

52644 X5 Milton Keynes Central Station – Cambridge Bus Stn
then
16591 26 Cambridge Bus Stn – Royston Old North Rd at Orchard Rd
Summing-up – a full day travelling, exploring some more new parts, and places I’d previously whizzed through before now. An interesting range of vehicles spotted and sampled. Several consecutive days of travel have not worn me out! See all the pics here!
