More of the same
Jul. 10th, 2007 11:06 pmCaroline was working from home again once more, and I had matters to attend to in Cambridge. If you’ve been following my Picture Skip or reading the updates on the Anglia Bus News Page, you will have noticed the Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents from Stagecoach (some are branded “citiPlus” for the half-hourly service 13/13A/X13 from Cambridge to Haverhill) have been wandering quite a bit of late. Having said that, I was still surprised to see one in Royston – all the more so when 17694 was my bus to Cambridge! Slightly better than a Volvo Olympian!

When it got to Cambridge, it looked like the proverbial tombola machine had a fine airing. Olympian 16082 was on citi7, and most of the passengers were tipped onto MAN 22458 at Emmanuel Street.

As it reversed, I could see 17694 was spouting black smoke... so away it went, and the next 26 trip was 16089 instead. Don’t know if that was pre-planned or not!

The other Huntingdon & District ex-Travel Dundee Dart that I saw a few Saturday evenings ago was snapped!

MAN 22307 was on the 10 - first time I’ve seen this…

The side streets include a number of interesting places in Cambridge - such as The Tram Depot, in Adam & Eve Street (honest!) But, was it a tram depot?

So, anyway, had the afternoon free, and there was a MAN on the citi7 in Emmanuel Street – 22326. It was one of the hourly projections to Saffron Walden. Well, I had the ticket to do it, and the time, so away we went! Caught up in traffic around Trumpington, we managed to get more than twenty minutes late at one point. The return journey was on time – as the driver must have lost most of the layover! The ride was quite a nice one through the countryside, and even a bit of A-road power. I noticed the timetable panels on some stops also had the 139 to Royston, the Wednesday only service from H&D. Anyway, here is the bus at Saffron Walden High Street…

Got off at the railway station, and then snapped a few more (never did get a 007 though!) before heading back to Royston. You can see all the pics here.
