Today was quite a special day in several ways, although it passed in a relatively low-key way.

Firstly, today was my first day in training for my new job – today, and one day training next Wednesday (see this post from a week past Monday). I had the 26 into Cambridge, before walking around to St Andrews Street for a citi2 to Milton. I was surprised when Volvo/PS-type 20849 turned up…

Jo was taking the training, and I was the only one in (normally she likes to get a few volunteers starting at similar times – but currently, there have been no other interested people of late, beside myself!) Some of the skills I have before can translate into this job, but some of them are new to me. The claim from CVC about looking after their volunteers does seem to be true… and I now have my own expenses sheet, as well! Lol but seriously, they seem to identify and respect feelings of the person taking the call, as well as those making the call. It’s all good, from what I’ve seen so far.

Just before 1300, we finished up, and I went out for the bus back to Cambridge. A woman approached me at the bus shelter, and asked if I’d been waiting long. I’d only been about five minutes, but this is something I’d not heard often here. People either turn-up-and-go on high frequency routes, know when to wait for a low frequency bus, or have their own thing for weekly shoppers runs etc. The reason she was asking soon became clear, when the bus approached. She’d left her bag on the bus on the way up… presumably it was the one on the stand at Milton Wagon & Horses at the time.

Now, while we were out on Sunday, we offered [personal profile] auntysarah and [personal profile] the_local_echo to join us somewhere out for dinner. They already had plans, but wanted to meet us later in the week. We’d agreed on this evening, so I went back to Cambridge city centre to pick up a magazine for Caroline, before getting the 26 back to Royston. I dropped my bags of things (training paperwork etc.) at home, along with the spare shoes, and grabbed only my handbag and jacket for the trip back out one hour later on the next 26 to Cambridge. In the bushes just off Station Road, I could see a dumped pile of Jobs24 magazines – is this the quality circulation that this publication claims?

Anyway, arrived at Sarah & Sylvia’s, and Caroline arrived shortly after. Sarah was keen to show us some of the new toys that found at the BBB. She ran her new pinwheel over my arms, and I was almost in hysterics with just three up-downs. That was enough for me. I’m not sure why (hormones probably – blame them – I’ve not blamed them yet!) I am especially ticklish this week, as Caroline managed to get me on the floor with just a few fingers earlier in the week – unusually. Following some demonstration of the abilities of the new Mac, we went out for a meal at The Golden Curry.

We’d not been back since the 31st of March – five months ago bar a day – when we were here with S&S, and it was also the day when Caroline & I fell in love. You could say it was a low-key celebration of my new work, and our togetherness – that is how I saw it, but Caroline doesn’t like to count such things (as much as I do), so I didn’t push it too much. In any case, facts are facts, but given everything that has happened, it seems like so much longer!

The place was a lot quieter this time, but the service was a little slower (there was a large party on the other side who had just ordered, which might have explained things). After discussing lots of stuff on surgery, transition, bdsm, fantasies, films, and sci-fi (kind of like a copy of what happened on the 31st March really), we left sometime after 2200. Caroline did have a yell at the staff for getting the pronouns wrong, which left me in giggles. OK, so I was tired…

… We headed back to S&S’s place again, and had tea, before we drove away shortly before 2300 (once again, almost a carbon copy of how things were a few months back!) before driving down the A10. We were both v.tired, but we needed a few things, so I said I’d go into Tesco. Home, bags unpacked, and straight to bed – and we were both asleep very quickly, but not before thanking Caroline once again for everything over the last five months.
