Bus boss faces fraud charges
Stewart Newing-Davis, director of Bankfoot Buses, is accused of obtaining £58,000 from Transport Scotland by fraud.
Stewart Newing-Davis is alleged to have claimed £79,000 from Transport Scotland between September 17 and July 20 last year.
He is alleged to have pretended to staff at Transport Scotland Ltd in Glasgow that his company, Bankfoot Buses, was entitled to claim £79,000.
The Crown allege that Newing-Davis, under his trading name of Ptarmigan Transport Solutions, submitted 11 claims forms seeking reimbursement for £79,000 in fares.
It is alleged that the claim was for concessionary fares for passengers carried by Bankfoot Buses, but the charge alleges the company was only entitled to £21,000.
Newing-Davis, 40, whose address was given as Arran House, Arran Road, Perth, stands accused at Perth Sheriff Court of obtaining £58,000 by fraud.
He was not present in court on Tuesday and the case was continued without plea.
