A few bus bits, mostly in bite-size…

Following this post re the Norfolk fares promotions by Norfolk Green, the company followed this up with some further fundraising endeavours, and more besides. You may be interested in this snippet, from the company’s website and e-newsletter…
“You helped us raise £826 for Rebecca's Wishes!
Our recent work to raise money for local children's cancer charity Rebecca's Wishes has surpassed all expectations, with the combined amount from fares donated on 29 October from X29 passengers and on 21 November from FairsteadOne passengers reaching £826.20, which will be put to use helping the families of children diagnosed with cancer. Look out for one of our buses now named Rebecca Fairhead, in honour of the brave and selfless little girl who inspired the charity, and thank you all for your generous support.”

Secondly, moving west now, and the new timetables from Wootten’s Tiger Line start in January, and are now on their webpage. The service has been enhanced with extra peak period services, a service throughout the afternoon, and reduced price weekly tickets (while most single fares go up by 10p). This week, Wootten’s latest acquisition, W63 (PES 463Y, formerly Strathtay ST7/407) passed it’s MOT test, and has been painted unusually all over yellow, at the request of a regular private school contract client.

Intercity now, and Megabus.com has a promotion with a fair handful of off-peak seats, Monday to Thursday from January to March, going for £0.00 (plus 50p booking fee per transaction, for as many free and paid seats as you like).  The promotion applies to all English and Welsh services, not to/from Scotland. Search and buy in the normal way, free seats are shown with the price as "FREE".

Finally, following strike action one weekend at First Aberdeen, and twice at Stagecoach Bluebird, both issues have now been resolved. First have introduced a new Service 80 between Dyce Station (on the enhanced Aberdeen – Inverurie – Inverness line) and Aberdeen Airport – you may recall such a service existed until 2001, when Aberdeen City Council pulled the plug on subsidised services. The route is running with funding from NESTRANS, and is being ran with the two Plaxton Cheetah bodied Mercedes minicoaches. I can’t find a new timetable on the First Aberdeen webpage anywhere, but you might have better luck at Traveline Scotland.
