My gynae appointment was on Tuesday, as I said on my last post. It was clear what had happened. The doc explained that the MRI revealed it was not a cyst, so he asked the radiographer to take a second look at it. He’s quite certain that it is penile tissue. He said that if he tries to remove it, it’s going to cause damage, and potentially leave me incontinent. (Again.)

I’m not quite sure what I am supposed to think after that. The tissue (or the base of the tissue certainly, he used a medical description that escapes me now) obviously needs to be looked at again. I’m kind of hoping this doesn’t become a regular thing, every 12-18 months. It could leave me overlooking more serious conditions down there. If the work does cause any problems, it’s going to land me back in something that I wanted to be away from.

In the meantime, I’ve to wait for copies of the reports, my GP has to apply for further funding, and we’ve to go all around the whole surgery thing once more. Everything that I thought I was done with. I am waiting for my GP to get back to me on this, and other things.

sorry to hear you are in for more surgery. i know it is easy for me to say, but try to bear in mind how far you have come, and the bigger picture. you are not 'ill' and this, even now, is relatively experimantal. it need not dent the wider issue of gender identity.

Damn.. nothing worse than some unwelcome prick that won't go away when asked to leave :-(

Hope it gets sorted out.

it is hard work being in a human body when it doesn't fit right.

remember that lots of people have things that challenge their sense of their identity - lots of women with breast cancer opt to have mascectomies, for instance. even just being too ill to have my career has been massive for me, even though it doesn't affect my femininity as such. mind you, if i can get my doc to give me testosterone, god knows where i will end up...

other people go about their daily business and your world can be turned upside down, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be sympathetic if they knew, and you don't know how other people suffer. don't let yourself get separate about this, if you know what i mean.
