The new ticket changes that I alluded to earlier on include a new Blairgowrie DayRider for £1.50 or weekly MegaRider for £5.00, a Forfay DayRider+ (to go with the recently introduced £9.00 weekly MegaRider+) at £2.50. Friockheim to Kirriemuir on Service 27 is £2.45 single alone, and from Monday, it will cost just 5p to come back, if you ask for a Forfar DayRider+…

… but the most useful is the new range of Dundee area tickets. The Tay MegaRider, which is launched last year (£9.90 for seven days travel around Dundee, plus to/from Muirhead, Kingoodie, Wormit, Tayport, Monifieth, Ethiebeaton Park/Dobbies, Wellbank, and Tealing. This ticket has been renamed to the Dundee MegaRider, which offers the same validity and a little bit more (now also valid to Newbigging and Ardestie) for a little bit less (now only £9.00). To match this, there is a Dundee DayRider for £2.00 – 60p less than the Travel Dundee equivalent (DaySaver is £2.60).

If you are still with me, then this is where I might lose you! The natural inbetween from a Dundee ticket to an all-Tayside ticket is the new Dundee DayRider+ at £3.50, or the Dundee MegaRider offering seven days travel for £14.00. Valid to all the same areas as the Dundee tickets, plus also to Carnoustie, Easthaven and Muidrum, Monikie (presumably all points on the circular), Gateside (near Forfar), Meikle Kilmundie (near Lumley Den), Newtyle, Pitcur Farm (on the A923), Inchture, Balmerino, Gauldry, Pickletillum, and Burnside (after Tayport). A single from Dundee to Newtyle will cost you £1.90 or £2.20, depending on the journey you take. A single from Dundee city centre to my doctors is £1.05 to £1.20. You can see the potential here!

The renaming of the Strathtay Rover to a Tayside DayRider (as well as the reduced price) means no validity over the Tay Bridge, but the Super Day/Mega tickets cover this. There is no ticket valid across into Aberdeenshire for longer trips currently, but perhaps something for the next Bluebird ticket review.

This list shows the range of new tickets – but also, Perth MegaRider, Perth MegaRider+, Perth DayRider+, Super DayRider and SuperMegaRider, Fife DayRider and Fife MegaRider, are all still availbile (the list shows “Fife Super DayRider”, but that is in fact a confusion of two tickets).
