TfL Fares & Tickets January 2008 booklet
Dec. 12th, 2007 10:03 amSome bits of this have already been mentioned on TubeGroup and/or LondonBusGroup, but the main change is a freeze on bus/tram fares, and also on tube single (cash and oyster) fares. I am sure that it has nothing to do with the forthcoming mayoral elections, honest!
1. The booklet contains a series of images of a bus, a tram, a DLR and Tube train, and an Overground train. Apart from the bus, they appear accurate. Can anyone spot a slight oversight with the bus picture?...

2. There is mention of a new discount facility, using Oyster Pay-As-You-Go for holders of most railcards (Disabled, HM Forces, Senior Citizens and Young Persons). This has always been an option with paper tickets, even from LUL ticket offices, but was rarely advertised. (Network Railcards appear to be excluded, for some reason?). The booklet advises that to qualify, you need to visit the website - but no details there. Anyone able to add more on this?
3. The booklet also adds that there is no longer an administration fee for the first issues of a 5-10, 11-15 or 16+ photocard, and coincidentally, 'From 1 June 2008, all 11-15 year olds will need an Oyster photocard to travel free on buses and trams'.
4. Certain stations have had their zones changed -
Band A and B are now Zone 7
Band C is now Zone 8
Band D is now Zone 9
Acton Central is now Zone 3
Bushey is now Zone 8
Carpenders Park is now Zone 7
Hampstead Heath is now Zone 2
Watford High Street is now Zone 8 (Watford Junction?)
Willesden Junction is now Zones 2/3
5. While Tube Oyster and cash fares have not been increased, the price of One-Day Travelcards is increased, to cover higher rail fares presumably. But if Oyster PAYG price capping is not valid on all national rail services, why did those go up to match?
6. Oyster PAYG on the Euston to Watford Overground line will have peak fares 0700-0930 Mon-Fri to Euston, and 1600-1900 Mon-Fri to Watford. Rest of the Overground and Underground is Mon-Fri throughout 0700-1900. Anyone know why this is?
(Seriously, if anyone can fill in these gaps in my knowledge, please do so!)
