GRC arrives!
Dec. 17th, 2007 11:52 amMy GRC has arrived in the snail mail (see this post), with six pages of 'Notes on what to do next'... it does sound vaugley like a set of furniture assembly instructions to me!
"Congratulations on receiving your Gender Recognition Certificate... You are now entitled to all the rights appropriate to a person of your acquired gender. This includes the right to marry someone of the opposite gender, or to form a civil partnership with someone of the same gender, and to retire and receive state pension at the appropriate age. A person whose birth was registered in the United Kingdom or abroad with the British Authorities in the country concerned will also be able to obtain a new Birth Certificate showing him or her recognised legal gender. This recognition extends throughout the United Kingdom, and there is no reason why it would be challenged elsewhere in the world...
Your privacy is safeguarded by the Gender Recognition Act which defines all information relating to the Gender Recognition process as 'protected information'...
You must now be treated on equal terms with anyone else of your acquired gender..."
and it continues.
(not quite insert tab A into slot B... LOL)
