Stagecoach Strathtay Service Changes - Commencing 13th August 2007

New Service 5: Dundee city centre – Tulliedeph Road
This new service will operate from Dundee Whitehall Street via Nethergate, West Marketgait, Hawkhill, Brook Street, Milnbank Road, Scott Street, Pentland Avenue, City Road, Logie Street, Ancrum Road to Tulliedeph Road. Buses will return via City Road, and reverse of outward route. Departres from Whitehall Street will be 0725, 0755, and at 25, 55 past the hour until 1755, returning from Tullideph Road 13 minutes later. The service will commence operation at 0925 on Saturdays. Service to be operated with Mercedes Vario minibuses. Additional bus stops will be placed on roads currently without them.

New Service 6: Dundee city centre – Downfield - Strathmartine Hospital – Kirkton of Auchterhouse
Service 6 is a replacement for the current Services 137/138, but on a revised route and increased frequency to most areas. Service 6 will start from Dundee High Street, Stop H1 (not serving Dundee Bus Station) via Crichton Street, Dock Street, Commercial Street, Medowside, Panmure Street, Euclid Crescet, Albert Square, Meadowside, Ward Road, West Marketgait, Lochee Road, Rankine Street, Gardner Street, Kilberry Street, Lawside Road, Loons Road, Alpin Road, Harefield Road, Johnston Avenue, Clepington Road, Kingsway West Retail Park, Kingsway West, Strathmartine Road, Camperdown Road, then “hail & ride” via Livingstone Terrace, Americanmuir Road, Annandale Avenue, Lauderdale Avenue, Eskdale Avenue, then to Strathmartine Road, Downfield terminus, Strathmartine Road, Bridgefoot bus shelter, to Strathmartine Hospital. Some journeys continue to Auchterhouse, and these serve Strathmartine Hospital then Bridgefoot. Buses return via Craigmill Road, Baldovan Road, Harestane Road, Strathmartine Road, Downfield terminus, Strathmartine Road, reverse of outward route to Kingsway West, Kingsway West Retail Park, Clepington Road, Johnston Avenue, Brantwood Avenue, Loons Road, Lawside Road, Kilberry Street, Gardner Street, Rankine Street, Lochee Road, West Marketgait, Nethergate, to Dundee High Street. The first journey (0656 from Dundee High Street to Strathmartine Hospital, Monday to Saturday) will follow the route to Meadowside, then direct via Hilltown, Constitution Street, Rosebank Street, Kinghorne Road, Strathmartine Road to Downfield, then as above.

Buses will leave Dundee High Street at these times -
Monday-Friday – 0656 (to Strathmartine Hospital direct), 0715 (to Auchterhouse), 0754 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1010 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1110 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1210 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1310 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1405 (to Downfield), 1500 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1545 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1610 (to Auchterhouse), 1705 (to Auchterhouse), 1735 (to Auchterhouse). There is an additional journey at 0936 from Downfield to Strathmartine Hospital.
Saturday – 0656 (to Strathmartine Hospital direct), 0754 (to Strathmartine Hospital direct), 0910 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1010 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1110 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1210 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1310 (to Auchterhouse), 1405 (to Downfield), 1500  (to Strathmartine Hospital),  1545 (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1645  (to Strathmartine Hospital), 1745 (to Auchterhouse).

Buses will leave Kirkton of Auchterhouse bus shelter at
Monday-Friday - 0757, 1352, 1652, 1747, 1817
Saturday – 1352, 1827.

Buses will leave Strathmartine Hospital at
Monday-Friday – 0719, 0814, 0826 (to Downfield only), 0942, 1042, 1142, 1242, 1409, 1532 (turns at the hospital and continues via Bridgefoot), 1617, 1709, 1804, 1834.
Saturday – 0719, 0826 (to Downfield only), 0942, 1042, 1142, 1242, 1409, 1532, 1617, 1717, 1844.

These buses leave Downfield three minutes later (except 1532 on weekdays, which passes Downfield at 1540). An extra bus runs from Downfield to Dundee High Street at 0845 (Monday to Friday) or 0900 (Saturdays).

Additionally, one journey on Service 6A will serve Kirkton of Auchterhouse (see below).

Service to be operated with Mercedes Vario minibuses. Additional bus stops will be placed on roads currently without them.

New Service 6A Dundee city centre – Lawton – Glens – Downfield
Service 6A is a replacement for most of the western section of the current Service 71. The service will start from Dundee High Street Stop H1 via Crichton Street, Dock Street, Commercial Street, Meadowside, Victoria Road, Hilltown, Constitution Street, Rosebank Street, Kinghorne Road, Lawside Avenue, Lawside Road, Campbell Street, Kenmore Terrace, Kinpurnie Place, Law Crescent, Lawton Road, Byron Street, Alpin Road, Harefield Road, Strathmore Avenue, Glenmarkie Terrrace, Glenmoy Avenue, Glenprosen Terrace, Clepington Road, Kingsway West Retail Park, Kingsway West, Strathmartine Road, Camperdown Road, then “hail & ride” via Livingstone Terrace, Americanmuir Road, Annandale Avenue, Lauderdale Avenue, Eskdale Avenue, then to Strathmartine Road, to Downfield terminus. Byron Crescent, Killin Avenue, most of Law Crescent, and the south side of Kenmore Terrace, will not be served at all. Service 6A will leave Dundee High Street, Stop H1, at 0940, 1040, 1140, 1240, 1340, 1445, with returns from Downfield Terminus at 1010, 1110, 1210, 1310, 1415, 1515 (Monday to Saturday).

Additionally, a Service 6A journey will leave Downfield Terminus at 0836, and run via Strathmartine Road, Harestane Road, Baldovan  Road, Craighmill Road, Strathmartine Hospital, unclassified roads via Bridgefoot, South Fallaws, Leoch, Kirkton of Auchterhouse, Newlandhead, Tealing Primary School, Tealing Village, A90, Inveraldie village, A90, unclassified road via Westhall Terrace, Burnside of Duntrune, Duntrune Road, South Powrie, Emmock Road, Forfar Road, Albert Street, Princes Street, to Dundee City Centre, terminating at Whitehall Street at 0935. While this journey still has the same start and finish point to the rest of Service 6A, it will operate via a completely different route otherwise.

Service 8/9: Montrose Station  - Craigo – Laurencekirk (from 20th August)
The two Sunday journeys which make up this service (1635 from Montrose, 1705 from Laurencekirk) will be withdrawn, following cessation of Aberdeenshire Council support.

Service 13: Monifieth (Broomhill Drive) – Ninewells Hospital
This service will be extended from Ethiebeaton Park to Monifieth (Broomhill Drive) via Grange Road and Monifieth High Street. The current frequency of every 30 minutes will continue, although timings will be adjusted slightly to improve reliability. Broomhill Drive will benefit from an improved level of service. Additional journey (Monday to Friday) at 0650 from Whitehall Street to Ninewells Hospital, and return. Buses will now leave Ninewells Hospital at 07 and 37 minutes past the hour, from Technology Park Apollo Way five minutes late, and from Whitehall Street traveling to Ninewells at 20 and 50 past each hour. Service will continue to be operated with the current Optare Solo low floor buses.

Service 16: Dundee – Perth
On Mondays to Saturdays the 0613 journey from Dundee to Errol will run 5 minutes earlier. This will allow a connection with the 0644 from Errol to Perth journey. The 1455 journey from Perth will run to Dundee bus station (arr.1610) every day, and will no longer serve the Technology Park, Ninewells Hospital, or continue as Service 39 to Arbroath.

Service 20/20B: Dundee – Forfar – Kirriemuir
Departures times from Dundee will be revised slightly between 1530 and 1630 on Mondays to Fridays.

Service 29: Edzell Woods – Montrose Station (from 20th August)
Daytime journeys withdrawn, following cessation of Aberdeenshire Council support.

Service 30: Montrose – Brechin/Stracathro Hospital
There will be some minor alterations to the timings of this service, and during the day Monday to Saturday most journeys will operate a one way loop within Montrose town centre serving the rail station and then the High Street. Most journeys will no longer be interworked to/from Service 39, but connections will remain availbile.

Service 36: Arbroath – Friockheim/Guthrie
This service will now be operated by Travel Wishart – call 01241 828747 for more details.

Service 39: Montrose - Invergowrie
This service will be extended from Dundee city centre to Invergowrie via Nethergate, Perth Road and Dundee Medipark/Technology Park. The frequency of the service between Arbroath and Invergowrie will be increased to every 30 minutes, with the section between Montrose and Arbroath continuing to run hourly. The pattern of routes within Invergowrie will be much the same as just now, with one bus per hour off-peak via Greystane Road and Mill Road. Some Service 39 journeys will also continue to/from Kingoodie, and these will also serve Invergowrie Station Road on journeys heading west. Extra weekday morning peak buses will operate to provide a bus every 15 minutes in the morning from Whitehall Street to Technology Park, and in the afternoon peak up to every 10 minuytes between Technology Park and High Street. Buses leave Arbroath for Dundee at 20 and 50 past the hour, and Dundee Whitehall Street heading west at 03 and 33 past the hour. Buses traveling east will leave Invergowrie Main Street at 25 and 55 past each hour, Technology Park Apollo Way three minutes later, Dundee High Street at 28 and 58 past the hour. There will be an extra early morning journey at 0620 from Arbroath Bus Station to Dundee, but the late night journey form Dundee to Arbroath will be withdrawn (see 39A). Buses will serve Balgillo Road in both directions, but will not serve Dundee Bus Station at all. Service 39 will be operated with one person buses, using a mixture of Volvo single and double deck buses. During the evenings and all day Sunday, buses will operate as service 39A and 73/73A (see below).

New Service 39A: Montrose - Invergowrie
This new service will run hourly during the evenings and all day Sunday from Montrose to Invergowrie Station Road via Arbroath, Muidrum, Carnoustie, Barry Village, Monifieth, Broughty Ferry, Broughty Ferry Road, Blackscroft, Seagate, Dundee city centre, Nethergate, Perth Road, Blackness Avenue, Blackness Road, Dickson Avenue, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee Medipark, Technology Park Apollo Way, and Invergowrie Main Street. Three early morning journeys on 39A will run from Arbroath Bus Station to Ninewells Hospital at 0630 0700 and 0730. The main evening and Sunday service leaves Montrose High Street at 15 past the hour, Arbroath Bus Station at 47 past the hour, Dundee Whitehall Street heading west at 41 past the hour. Return buses will leave from Invergowrie Main Street at 10 past the hour, Technology Park three minutes later, and from Dundee High Street at 35 past the hour. There will be two Sunday journeys from Kingoodie to Dundee Seagate only on Sundays, at 1350 and 1850. These changes provide a regular hourly service to Invergowrie all day on Sundays, as well as providing a Sunday daytime service to the Technology Park. Service 73 will also operate during Sunday daytimes – see below.

Services 40/40A/40B/40E Montrose - Dundee
These services will be withdrawn and replaced by new services 39/39A and 73/73A.

Arbroath Town Services 41-45
These services will be simplified to operate as follows:
Service 41 Bus Station to Timmergreens (circular)
Service 43 Bus Station to Kirkton (circular)
Service 44 Bus Station to Warddykes (circular)
Services 45/45A Bus Station to Cliffburn (circular)
The 41, 43, 44 and 45 will run every 30 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday, and hourly during the evenings and also on Sunday afternoon. The 45A will run hourly during the day Monday to Saturday. Passengers will continue to be able to travel across town on many journeys without the need to change buses at the bus station.

Service 47: Montrose (Ferryden to Sunnyside Hospital)
Some minor alterations will be made to the times of this service.

Services 69A/69C: Broughty Ferry – Barnhill Circular
Service 69A will be renumbered 69. Service 69 will continue to run anti-clockwise every 30 minutes between Broughty Ferry town centre and Barnhill during off peak hours Monday to Saturday. All journeys will serve the Esplanade area of Broughty Ferry, except the last one which instead continues to Dundee Seagate (arrive 1513). The service will start from Seagate opposite Bus Station at 0910, with departures from Broughty Ferry Gray Street at 0925, 0955, 1025, 1055, 1125, 1155, 1255, 1325, 1355, 1425. Service 69C will be revised to run to and from Dundee city centre as Service 74 (see below).

Service 71: Ethiebeaton Park – Kingsway West Retail Park
This service will be withdrawn. The section of route between Ethiebeaton Park and Dundee city centre will be replaced by improved services 13 and 77. The section of route between Dundee city centre and Kingsway Retail Park will be replaced by new, more frequent, services 6/6A.

Service 73/73A: Arbroath or Carnoustie – Ninewells Hospital
This service will be improved to run every 10 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday between Carnoustie and Ninewells Hospital via Monifieth, Broughty Ferry, Strathern Road, Craigie Avenue, Arbroath Road, Dundee city centre, Perth Road, Blackness Avenue, Blackness Road, and Dickson Avenue. Service 73 will run every 20 minutes with one journey per hour running to/from Arbroath via Muirdrum. The other 2 journeys per hour will provide a new service to the Queen Street and Newton Road area of Carnoustie. Service 73A serving Westhaven Park will run every 20 minutes. In the west of Carnoustie, Service 73 journeys (Monday to Saturday – not Sundays) will also serve Ravensby Road, Thomas Street and James Street, reinstating bus services into these areas. Service 73 journeys will serve the Barry By-Pass, while Service 73A journeys will run via Barry Village. Services 73/73A journeys heading east will operate in Dundee city centre via Seagate and Blackscroft, then via Lower Princes Street, Princes Street and Arbroath Road. Route traveling west is unchanged. During the day, Service 73 leaves Arbroath for Ninewells at 44 minutes past the hour. Service 73A will leave Carnoustie Westhaven Park for Ninewells at 07, 27 and 47 minutes past the hour. Service 73 will leave Carnoustie Newton Road at 18 and 38 minutes past the hour. Services 73 & 73A will leave Dundee Whitehall Street for Ninewells on the fours – 04, 14, 24, 34, 44, 54 minutes past each hour. Travelling east, buses leave Ninewells at 04, 24, 44 past the hour (73A to Westhaven Park), 14, 34 minutes past the hour (73 to Newton Road), and 54 minutes past the hour (73 to Arbroath). These journeys leave Dundee High Street around 17 minutes later. Buses serving Easthaven will be severely limited, and all run as Service 73A, on Monday to Friday only. Eastbound, there will be a 0727 [not public holidays] Easthaven – Dundee Whitehall Street, and a  0810 Arbroath – Ninewells Hospital (via Easthaven 0822). Eastbound buses will be 0759 Broughty Ferry Library – Arbroath (via Easthaven 0827), and 1644, 1724 Ninewells Hospital – Easthaven. During Sunday daytimes, Service 73 will operate every hour between Carnoustie Westhaven Park & Ninewells Hospital. When combined with other services, this doubles the service from Carnoustie to Dundee at these times, and provides three/four buses an hour to Monifieth. Some extra Sunday morning journeys will run at 0831 from Dundee Seagate to Nienwells Hospital, and 0848 back as far as Dundee High Street. There will then be  1018 from Dundee Seagate to Ninewells Hospital, followed by a bus at 40 past the hour from 1040 to 1740 from Carnoustie Westhaven Park to Ninewells Hospital. The 1240 and 1740 journeys from Carnoustie Westhaven Park continue beyond Ninewells Hospital to serve the Medipark, Technology Park, Invergowrie Main Street and Station Road, to Kingoodie. Westbound daytime 73’s wll run hourly from 1038 at 38 past each hour until 1738, to Carnoustie. On Dundee public holiday Mondays, the full weekday service will now operate, except for a handful of journeys which are highlighted in the timetable as not running (not May Day, when a Saturday service will operate instead). Most journeys on this service will be operated by low floor easy access Volvo double deck buses. Daytime services will operate with conductors.

New Service 74: Barnhill/Broughty Ferry – Dundee University
This new service starts from Barnhill Shops Nursery Road, and follows the 69C route as far as Broughty Ferry Queen Street. The bus will then not run into Broughty Ferry town centre, but instead continue via Claypotts Road, Strathern Road, Craigie Drive, Broughty Ferry Road, Blackscroft, Seagate, Commercial Street, Dock Street, Whitehall Street, Nethergate, West Markegait, Hawkhill, to Perth Road opposite Step Row. For services to West Ferry Albert Road and Broughty Ferry Town Centre, see Service 69 (above). From Perth Road, buses run via Nethergate, High Street, Crichton Street, Dock Street, Commercial Street, Seagate, Blacksctoft, Broughty Ferry Road, Craigie Drive, Strathern Road, as far as Victoria Road, them Ballinard Road, Balgillo Road, North Balmossie Street, Strathmore Street, to Barnhill Shops. Service 74 departures from Barnhill will be 0735 (Monday-Friday), 0755 (Saturday – to Whitehall Street only), 0815 (Monday-Friday), 0840 (Saturday), 0845 (Monday-Friday), 0915, 0945, then at 15 and 45 past the hour until 1615, 1650, 1720 (on Saturdays terminates at Whitehall Street), and 1750 (on Saturdays terminates at Whitehall Street). Departures from Perth Road at 0804 (Monday-Friday – to High Street only), 0844 (Monday-Friday), 0909 (Saturday), 0914 (Monday-Friday), 0944, then at 14 and 44 minutes past the hour until 1644, 1719, 1749 (Monday-Friday) and 1819 (Monday-Friday, to Seagate only). From High Street to Barnhill, buses will operate at 0712 (Monday-Friday), 0732 (Saturday), 0817 (Saturday),  0822 (Monday-Friday), 0852, then at 22 and 52 minutes past each hour, until 1552, 1627, 1657, 1727, then 1757 (Monday-Friday). Extra 0755 Seagate – Barnhill (Monday-Friday). This service will mostly be operated with Dennis Darts, and will be one-person operated.

Services 75/75A/76/76A/76X: Carnoustie - Invergowrie
These services will be withdrawn and replaced by improved services 13, 39/39A, 73/73A, 74, and 77.

Services 77: Ethiebeaton Park – Gauldry
Service 77 will be extended from Dundee city centre to Ethiebeaton Park via Blackscroft, Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee Road, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth High Street and Ashludie Hospital. Buses will run every 30 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday and hourly during the evenings and all day on Sundays.
Towards Fife journeys will display:
77 when serving Newport, Wormit, Gauldry (every hour)
77A when serving Norwood, Newport, Crosshill Terrace and Bay Road (2 hourly off-peak)
77B when serving Newport, Crosshill Terrace (irregular)
77C when serving Norwood, Newport, Kirk Road (Waterstone Crook) (2 hourly off-peak)
Towards Ethiebeaton Park all journeys will display service 77.
Gauldry will now benefit from an almost hourly service throughout the day, including evenings and Sundays. Buses will leave Ethiebeaton Park at 16 and 46 minutes past the hour, 11 and 41 minutes past from Dundee Seagate (not serving the bus station). Returning buses leave Tay Bridge South Access at 07 and 37 minutes past the hour, and leave Dundee High Street ten minutes later. The additional journeys will not serve Balmerino, and return to Dundee via Maryknowe. Most journeys on this service will be operated with low floor easy access Dennis Dart SLF’s, and will be one-person operated.

Service 117: Boal – Forfar – Turfbeg
Service 124: Forfar – Glamis – Kirriemuir
Service 125: Forfar – Glamis – Newtyle
These services will now be operated by JP Mini Coaches – call 01307 461431 for more details.

Service 122: Blairgowrie – Auchavan Stables
Revised timetable, with Saturday service introduced.

Service 128: Kirriemuir – Alyth (for Blairgowrie)
Revised route and timetable.

Service 137, 138, 139: Dundee – Bridgefoot/Auchterhouse/Inveraldie
Services withdrawn, replaced by Services 6 & 6A.
