My Thursday (27th) was a trip to the West Midlands – click here for the full post.

My Friday (28th March) was spent initially at the doctors, popping in for the final check of the silver nitrate’s handiwork (and it’s now all gone, so no need for any application). At the same time, the nurse did an asthma check, and has prescribed me a device to add to my purple ‘protector/preventer’ combined inhaler, to increase the amount being absorbed (I’m currently on a high dosage). Apparently they are much smaller than before, so I will see. I had to say that I would collect the signed prescription (from the chemist next door) later, as I had to travel into Cambridge. Quite convenient with the Stagecoach bus 26 turning around behind the surgery! After arriving in the city centre, collecting my jacket from the drycleaners (and returning the skirt that I put in for repair.. as they’d not repaired it!)

I stopped briefly at the new Grand Arcade shopping centre, which opened the previous day – ironically, on the same day as London Heathrow Airport’s new fifth terminal. Yes, one of these schemes has ran massively over-budget, created jobs for the building industry, while annoying the locals… and the other is an airport…!LOL It seemed that the work ongoing would carry on forever, and the bus stops outside are still relocated, as work continues on adjacent sites. Not all the units are occupied, but this is par for the course for shopping centres. One notable is the Apple store, but I didn’t have time to peruse too much. A few pics can be seen on the top row here. After stopping for lunch, took the bus to work.

After work, popped in to see [personal profile] auntysarah  (still recovering!) and [personal profile] the_local_echo  joined us shortly after. We were discussing the GA opening, and she said that she had heard that it looked “like a prison”. From my limited experience, that may well be a fair, but slightly cruel, statement. Actually, there were more people in prison than in that place today, for the second day when the kids were off I’d have expected a bit more. Anyway, Caroline met me here too, and we were going to go out for the evening, although I was feeling a bit run-down and nauseous (unusually), so we stopped for pizza and then drove home. The combination of tiredness and the rest kind of got to me by the end of the night, although I still don’t quite have anything more to add about the near future!

Saturday 29th March, and we managed to get out in the wind and rain, and stopped first at the chemist, as we both had things to pick up. I got my new spacer (AeroChamber Plus) – yes, it is much smaller than before! – plus also, a replacement for the Hydroxyzine (Atrax) pills that I was taking (anti-histamine, another manufacturers shortage). This time, I’ve got Alimemazine (Vallergan) pills, one a night, and they are supposed to stop itching, as well as being a mildly sedating anti-histamine, but you had to read between the lines to get that. At least it’s something.

Then, we went into Cambridge once more, stopping at another G&P booksale. The stock included a book I’d purchased quite a while ago, and was thinking of finding another copy, but I was quite surprised to find them there for £1.00 each! Anwyay, The Temp kind of struck the right note with me, when I first saw the preview back in 1999 (when I was doing the temp thing myself, but not as glamorously!).

Sunday (30th March), and in comparison to last weekend, today was sunny. 15 degrees in Royston when we went for some shopping earlier on!

Tomorrow, Monday 31st March, marks myself & Caroline’s one-year-together anniversary.

Gosh, that's the Grand Arcade just opening? My mum and I were in Cambridge in October 2006 and saw all the work, thought it would have been finished long before now!!

I need to organise a trip down to Cambridge, I do love it. Might wait until the Cambs to St Neots guided busway is in place!

Re Grand Arcade - yes, 'fraid so!

Come down, you know you want to!

Wait till the busway is in place... better not, come now, then come again when that finally gets finished! (assuming the Evening News doesn't find out about any more illegal immigrants being employed as construction workers...)

Through the magic of timezones, it's tomorrow there while it's still today here, thus allowing me to be the first to wish you two the happiest of anniversaries.

Spoil each other rotten, give lots of hugs and generally be nauseatingly sweet; you deserve it : )
