Travel Dundee service changes, w/c Monday 7th April 2008
The operator’s announcement doesn’t say much, but I’ve managed to deduce the following;
Service 1 (City Centre – Faraday Street, weekday peak periods only)
Services from City Centre to Faraday Street extended via Macalpine Road and Dalmahoy Drive to St Marys. 1145 return journey on Friday withdrawn.
Services 1A/1B (City Centre – St Marys)
Revised Sunday service, with four buses an hour during the day (every 15 minutes combined service on common sections of route).
Services 3/4/4A/4B (Dryburgh Circular/Camperdown – City Centre)
Monday-Saturday 4A at 1845 from Camperdown to City Centre reverts to being a 4B, departs at 1850, and extends to Perth Road & Hawkhill loop.
Services 9X/10X (Forthill – Technology Park)
Evening service reduced from every 20 to 30 minutes, but extended cross-town to Perth Road/Step Row, then to return to the city centre and Barnhill via Hawkhill. Still no Sunday service.
Services 9/10/11/12 (Outer Circle)
With the exception of some school short journeys, between Ninewells Hospital and Charleston, all journeys will serve Dundee Technology Park. Some early morning and the last evening 9A/10A short workings withdrawn, following cessation of financial support from Dundee City Council.
Service 14 (Ethiebeaton Park – Ninewells Hospital)
Increased running time by up to 7-10 minutes in the weekday morning peak.
Service 15/17 (Whitfield – City Centre/Ninewells Hospital)
Increased running times. Monday to Saturday daytime journeys on Service 15 once again extend in the city centre to Crichton Street, allowing easier access to the Overgate. 0500 from Whitfield 15 (Mon-Fri) and 0525 from City Centre journeys withdrawn, following cessation of financial support from Dundee City Council. On Sundays, Service 15 will now only be a few journeys, and instead, Service 17 will run through every 20 minutes on Sundays, from Whitfield to Ninewells Hospital.
Services 18/18A/19 (Kirkton – City Centre)
Monday-Saturday daytimes, increased running time. Service 18 will run four buses per hour, Service 19 every 30 minutes, combined to provide a service every 10 minutes to Trottick & Kirkton. Services 1C and 19 will combine to provide a service every 15 minutes from City Centre to Provost Road. Increased running time on Sunday daytimes. Service 18 will run two buses an hour, 19 every hour, still combining to produce a bus every 20 minutes though. Sunday 18A variant via Woodside withdrawn, but see 24. Services 18/19 (Sundays) will be interworked with new Services 24, 25, 26. The announcement from TD mentions that the service is extended at Gillburn Road to accommodate the new St Paul’s secondary school (under construction), but no further details are available.

Revised timetable. The one Sunday journey is replaced by Service 24.

Sunday service gets increased running time. Services increased – 22 to run 3 buses an hour, 22C hourly Sunday daytimes. Combined service between Ninewells Hospital & Downfield of a bus every 15 minutes (currently every 20 minutes).

New Sunday hourly service, leaving Commercial Street All-Stars via Dock Street, Union Street, Nethergate, West Marketgait, Courthouse Square, Ward Road, Meadowside, Albert Square, Dens Road, Arklay Street, Clepington Road, Woodside, Clepington Road, Arklay Street, Dens Road, back to Commercial Street All-Stars. Buses from Commercial Street 1015, 1135 and hourly to 1835, returning from Woodside Avenue 18 minutes later.
Service 25 (City Centre – Blackness – Lochee – City Centre)
New Sunday hourly service, leaving Commercial Street All-Stars via Dock Street, Whitehall Street, Nethergate, Perth Road, Blackness Avenue, City Road, Lochee By-Pass, Lochee High Street, Logie Street, Lochee Road, North Marketgait, India Buildings, to Commercial Street All-Stars. Buses from Commercial Street 1055 and hourly to 1755, leaving Perth Road/Step Row five minutes later, Lochee High Street 17 minutes later.
Service 26 (City Centre – Lochee – Blackness – City Centre)
New Sunday hourly service, leaving Commercial Street All-Stars via Dock Street, Whitehall Street, Nethergate, West Marketgait, Lochee Road, Logie Street, Lochee By-Pass, Lochee High Street, City Road, Blackness Avenue, Perth Road, West Marketgait (again!), Courthouse Square, Ward Road, Meadowside, back to Commercial Street. Buses from Commercial Street 1115 and hourly to 1815, leaving Lochee High Street 13 minutes later, and Perth Road/Ritchies Lane 22 minutes later.
Service 32/32B/33/33A (Fintry – City Centre)
Revised times, with additional running time. Hourly off-peak Monday-Friday services on the 33 will run as 33A via Pensions Office, plus Saturday morning journeys to the facility. Sunday services – during the day, 32 will run hourly, 32B [via Mill O’ Mains] will run hourly, 33 will run every 30 minutes, which will combine to provide a bus every 15 minutes during the day between City Centre and Caird Park, as well as to/from Fintry Shops, and an hourly service during the day to/from Mill O’ Mains.
Service 36/37 (Northern Circular)
Morning 37 journey from Mill O’ Mains to Harris Academy now runs Monday to Friday only, is renumbered 37C. This journey will terminate at Perth Road/Step Row, then return to the City Centre via Hawkhill. Revised route & timetable – buses mostly hourly, every 60-70 minutes in the peaks. Service 37 will now leave the city (starting outside the Forum Centre), Ward Road, Constitution Road, Barrack Road, Albany Terrace, Lawside Road, Loons Road, Brantwood Avenue, Johnston Avenue, Kingsway West Retail Park (yes, again), but then… Clepington Road, Kings Cross Road, Dunsinane Avenue, Camperdown Leisure Park, Faraday Street, Ardler Village, Camperdown Road, Kirkton, then as before. Service 36 to follow this route in reverse, but starting/ending on the other side of Commercial Street, at All-Stars, and via Seagate, Lower Princes Street etc.
