Service Changes from 18th August 2008

Service 5 (Dundee city centre – Tullideph Road This service will be withdrawn and replaced by revised service 74 which will continue to Ninewells Hospital providing improved links for the Brook Street area.

Service 6/6A (Dundee city centre – Downfield – Bridgefoot/Kirkton of Auchterhouse) Due to recent cutbacks in local authority funding these services will be substantially reduced with service 6 withdrawn, and service 6A operating hourly off-peak (Mon to Fri) between the city centre and Downfield only. Angus Council supported services 137,138,139 will be re-introduced to serve the area north of Downfield.

Service 13 (Ethiebeaton Park – Ninewells Hospital) This service will be extended from Ninewells Hospital to Invergowrie via the Technology Park. Journeys terminating at Station Road will be numbered 13, and journeys to Mill Road will be numbered 13A. At the Monifieth end of the route, a one way loop will be introduced with service 13 operating from Panmurefield via Ethiebeaton Park, Ashludie Hospital, Monifieth High Street, Grange Road back to Panmurefield, with service 13A operating in the opposite direction. A revised timetable will be introduced maintaining the 30 minute frequency.

Services 20,20A,20B,20C (Dundee – Forfar – Kirriemuir) A revised route will be introduced within Dundee with buses operating via Seagate, Commercial Street, Victoria Road, Dura Street, Forfar Road on all outbound and inbound journeys. In addition a revised route within Kirriemuir will result in buses operating direct into the town centre before operating a one way loop via Southmuir and Northmuir back to the town centre before returning direct back towards Forfar and Dundee. Service 20B journeys to/from Easterbank will be curtailed at Forfar East High Street to improve reliability, with alternative facilities provided by revised service 27. The majority of buses which start/finish at Forfar will operate via the Kinnettles road end junction. A revised timetable will operate throughout the week, although the current frequency will be maintained. The use of service numbers 20A and 20B will cease, with all journeys displaying service 20 (or 20C for journeys to/from Glamis on Sundays)

Services 21,21A (Forfar – Brechin – Edzell/Stracathro) Some minor timetable changes will take place to maintain connections at Forfar with buses to/from Dundee.

Service 23B (Lunanhead – Forfar Academy) This schoolday journey will be extended from Forfar Academy to Whitehills primary school.

Services 27,27A,27B (Kirriemuir – Forfar – Arbroath) This service will be revised to operate from Cliffburn via Arbroath town centre, Kirkton, then current route to Forfar, where most journeys will operate via Restenneth Drive, then direct into Kirriemuir town centre, returning via Northmuir and Southmuir back towards to Forfar and Arbroath. A revised timetable will be introduced maintaining the current frequency.

Service 30 (Montrose – Brechin – Stracathro/Edzell) This service will be reduced to operating early morning, evenings and Sundays with support from Angus Council. New service 33 will provide an alternative hourly daytime service between Ferryden, Montrose, Sunnyside Hosp, Brechin and Stracathro.

Service 33 (Ferryden – Stracathro) This new service will operate hourly during Monday to Saturday daytime linking Ferryden, Montrose High Street, Borrowfield, Sunnyside Hospital, Brechin and Stracathro providing a number of new links without the need to change buses.

Service 39 (Montrose – Arbroath – Dundee) This service will be revised to operate to/from Dundee city centre only, with the section of route west of the city centre replaced by revised service 13/13A. In addition journeys to/from Montrose will be diverted via Warddykes, and journeys currently terminating at Arbroath bus station will be extended to Warddykes, thus providing a bus every 30 minutes during the day between Warddykes and Dundee.

Service 39A (Montrose – Arbroath – Carnoustie – Dundee – Invergowrie) This hourly evening and Sunday service will operate to a slightly revised timetable with buses diverting to serve Warddykes.

Service 41 (Arbroath – Timmergreens) This service will be reduced to operate generally hourly. However services 73/73A will be diverted to serve Timmergreens which will maintain the two buses per hour to/from Arbroath bus station, but also introduce direct links to/from Ninewells Hospital via Carnoustie and Dundee.

Service 43 (Arbroath – Kirkton) This service will be reduced to operate generally hourly. However service 27 will be diverted to serve Kirkton which will maintain the two buses per hour to/from Arbroath bus station, but also introduce direct links to Forfar via Friockheim and Letham.

Service 44 (Arbroath – Warddykes) This service will be withdrawn and replaced by the revised services 39/39A which will maintain the current frequency but offer direct links with both Montrose and Dundee.

Services 45,45A (Arbroath – Cliffburn) This service will be reduced to operate generally hourly as service 45A during the daytime and as service 45 in the evenings and Sundays. However services 27 and 73/73A will both be extended from Arbroath bus station to Cliffburn hourly during the day, therefore maintaining the three buses per hour to/from Arbroath bus station, but also providing through links to Forfar and Dundee/Ninewells Hospital.

Services 47,47A (Ferryden – Montrose - Borrowfield - Sunnyside Hospital) This service will be revised to operate every 20 minutes between Montrose town centre and Borrowfield with additional journeys, generally supported by Angus Council, continuing to operate between Ferryden and Sunnyside to augment new daytime service 33.

Service 57 (Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth) Additional Mon to Sat journeys will operate at 0555 from Blairgowrie to Dundee, and 1920 from Dundee to Blairgowrie. The diversion into the Scone Park & Ride site will be discountinued.

Service 69 (Broughty Ferry circular) Unfortunately due to low patronage this service will be withdrawn. However Dundee City Council are currently exploring ways in which a limited replacement service can be funded.

Service 72 (Tayport – Dundee – Ninewells Hospital This service in its current form will be withdrawn and replaced by improved services 42/96 operating between Tayport and Ninewells Hospital up to every 20 minutes. A limited replacement service 72 will operate between Dundee bus station and Roseangle, Windsor Street and Perth Road on Mondays to Fridays. Dundee City Council are currently exploring ways in which a limited replacement service for other sections of the current 72 route can be funded.

Services 73,73A (Arbroath – Carnoustie – Monifieth – Dundee – Ninewells Hospital) The level of service between Monifieth and Carnoustie will be reduced from 6 buses per hour back to 4 buses per hour, with no change to the basic frequency on other sections of the route, except on a Saturday when 4 buses per hour will also operate on the Dundee city centre to Ninewells section. Journeys to/from Arbroath will generally be extended to Cliffburn, and divert via Timmergreens providing new links for these areas.

Service 74 (Barnhill – Dundee – Ninewells Hospital West of Dundee city centre this service will be revised to operate via Brook Street, Scott Street, Pentland Ave, Tullideph Road, Charleston Drive to/from Ninewells Hospital replacing service 5.The 30 minute frequency will be maintained with some additional early morning and early evening journeys provided.

Services 137,138,139 (Dundee – Downfield – Bridgefoot - Kirkton of Auchterhouse) These services supported by Angus Council will be reintroduced providing a similar level of service to that in operation prior to the increase in services introduced in August 2007.
