Diets & Dentistry
Sep. 4th, 2007 09:12 pmSo, after leaving Royston on the 26, we got into Cambridge a little bit late, and taking the citi7 dropped me off at Victoria Park, so I had to walk back to Mitchams Corner. Three minutes late for my 1140 dentist (the 26 got into Cambridge six minutes down!) - but, they were running late, so I was seen at 1200.
My dentist Sarah explained the plans - she was going to extract the root of the tooth at the back, my right-hand side at the bottom. Now, if I remember rightly, the last dentist in Dundee extracted most of it., but I think she left a bit in - which meant the pain continued. This was for today, so an injection was placed. While that was waited on to work, she said a further small extraction and some fillings will be done when the denture is ready, and some cleaning. She is planning this for the next visit.
A denture is planned to replace the gap, and impressions had to be taken. She put the top bit on, filled with a paste. I was lying back at this point, and my heart was already pounding. I was under instructions to breathe through my nose, but I was having issues in doing so while horizontal. I almost choked, and I admit that I was panicking a bit. After that, I was sat back upright, and it was easier.
After lots of drilling and thumping, the last of the root came out, and I got away at 1245. It was only planned to be a 30-minute slot, from 1140 to 1210, so you can see how badly impacted it was.
I was a little bit sore, but most of the pain was where my lips had to be pushed back to let her in. Not as much blood as last time!
So, a few things to do, then picked up a prescription (she gave me a script for antibiotics), and back to Royston - only to have to go out to pick up two envelopes from the Royal Mail delivery office.
We'd both managed well with the first day of the diets, but we both were sore for different reasons! A nice day to start a diet in retrospect - a day when you can't have anything hard to eat afterwards!
Sore, but hopefully this will eliminate most of the mouth pain that I've had in recent years. Now wondering why my previous dentist left it - I know there were some access problems into my mouth at the time, but as you can see, it has came out.
