Caroline is currently giggling loudly at this account of a story of someone's account of a bowel prep. If anyone has had to endure this stuff for an endoscopy, before GRS, or just so the doctor can stick something in there (again), then you have my sympathy, but you may also be able to appreciate this story.

I was finally able to leave the house yesterday (Friday 7th) around 1640ish, for reasons that I won't bore you with, meant I had to leave everything to the last minute of the day. Not through my own lazieness, or even personal choice. Never mind, got out in time to get stamps, get all the letters that I had to post away, and stopped at the Nat West cashpoint in Royston High Street to take out what I needed to.

Now, you are probably thinking 'there has to be a twist here'. I almost said out loud that I was expecting the machine to tell me to f**k off. Just as that thought went through my head, the security alarm (cunningly disguised into the embossed bank logo) went off right above my head. OW! Then... it just, stopped. WTF?

Anyway, I grabbed some pizzas from Somerfield, before going back home, as Caroline had got away from work early. I'd been not long out the shower, and it was very windy out, so maybe a mistake, but C was slightly concerned that I might have been coming down with something. Thankfully, I wasn't.

Friday evening, visit to Tesco for almost everything we needed, and we did quite well with our list this time! Caroline was looking for hints for early Christmas gifts, and I said that I spotted a jacket that I'd liked. Well, I got it down to a purple longer one, or a reddish shorter one. Went for the former, with the usual thanks etc. Caroline had been getting nostalgic earlier in the week about butterscotch Angel Delight Instant Whip (... ok, ok, they both tasted the same to me!), and while we couldn't exactly find it, Tesco No Added Sugar Butterscotch Delight was the next best thing at 29p a packet. We also spotted the Strawberry Tesco Value Desert Whip going for £0.03 per packet... if you spot any lower-priced 'Tesco Value' items, please post a comment! (It's going to be difficult!)

We got back to the flat about 2330, and for the first night in ages, I had a really good sleep.

Saturday, and we were up early-ish, leaving the flat around 1120. We'd stopped at Galloway & Porter's latest warehouse sale in Cherry Hinton Road, and then had McLunch, before we continued to the retail park - Homebase. We went in nominally for a new loo seat, but also came out with a trolley's worth, including a new bin and a shelving unit! I also found a slightly more elegant white porcelain 'used teabag' holder, as we currently have a plastic square tub for such things.

Afterwards, I insisted we stopped in Starbucks for coffee (I was started to get a bit sore), and afterwards we crossed over to Staples on the other side.

When we got home, a delivery in our absence, which was an early Christmas gift of two nice bathrobes from Simon W. Thanks!

That is almost all of my Christmas stuff now bought, so it must be time to do the cards!
