Fare cuts this month in East Anglia

suzyscottdotcomFor most of the next fortnight, First Eastern Counties are celebrating the arrival of their new Volvo/Wright Gemini double deckers on the X1 (Peterborough – Wisbech – Kings Lynn – Norwich – Great Yarmouth – Lowestoft) by allowing you on for no more than £2.00 – although you don’t need to do the full four and a quarter hour trip end-to-end to qualify!
Travel on the X1 Excel for just £2.00...or even for free!
“As First Eastern Counties Buses welcomes its brand new state-of-the-art double decker buses on the flagship X1 Excel route, passengers can take advantage of some very special travel offers.
A single journey anywhere on the X1 route will cost just £2.00 or, if a passenger has a ticket for any other bus operator on the route, they can travel for free!!
This fare promotion offers passengers a unique opportunity to explore the eastern counties and encourage non-bus users to give the bus a try.
With a regular express service of up to every 15 minutes between Gorleston/Great Yarmouth and Norwich and up to every 30 minutes to Lowestoft, Kings Lynn and Peterborough the X1 offers speedy, efficient and reliable links between the principal towns and cities of the eastern counties.
Seventeen new double-deckers, with distinctive new livery, will operate this route and each bus will offer an unprecedented level of comfort, safety and refinement. Features include seventy specially designed coach seats, low-floor access and dedicated wheelchair space.
Since its inception in 2004 the service has continued to grow in popularity and now has over 1.5 million passenger journeys annually and provides a vital transport link for the people of Norfolk and Suffolk.

• Travel on the First Eastern Counties X1 Excel for just £2.00 single, anywhere on the route
• Any passenger with a valid ticket for any other operator on the X1 route can travel for FREE!! Simply present your valid ticket to the driver. Tickets must be valid on day of travel. Travel is valid from the point of departure to the destination for which that ticket is valid on the X1 Excel route.
• Departures from Norwich to Great Yarmouth/Gorleston up to every 15 minutes - express service in only 40 minutes
• Offer valid 26th October to 8th November 2008 inclusive

"It's now a year since we took over the Fakenham to Norwich X29 bus route, and we've got a very special offer to say thank you to all of our passengers. All day on Wednesday 29 October, buy any return ticket and you'll only pay the price of a single - so to go into Norwich from Fakenham will only cost you £2.90 instead of the usual £5! This offer also applies to through fares sold on connecting 29 buses from Wells and Walsingham. What's more, of every cash fare collected on the day, 50p will go to local charity Rebecca's Wishes, which does sterling work helping the families of children diagnosed with cancer."
The previous service to Fakenham, was of course, First Eastern Counties 56/56A/56B, until a year ago, when it was withdrawn. In the email newsletter Greencast, NG mentioned “We have already made improvements to the X29 and we're carrying three times as many people as the previous service attracted…”.
