We've just stopped at Cairn Lodge, Happendon Motorway Services, in South Lanarkshire. The site is one of a lodge formerly built as the entrance to Douglas Castle in 1851, but has been in use as a private services since 1993. Caroline admitted to being "pleasantly surprised" at the quality of the food on offer!

Now heading through South Lanarkshire, wih the laptop out on my lap, new iPod plugged into the stereo, and a fair bit in the back!

(A problem initally though as the windscreen wipers took a few hours to defrost!)

No dropping of trailer legs signs are to protect the tarmac. When swapping trailers you obviously have to wind down the legs at the front before taking out the tractor unit. They have a small contact area, and if the trailer is fully loaded that means they can exert a force great enough to leave two large dimples in the tarmac. Over time this will completely ruin the carpark surface if allowed to happen.

Hi Jenny,

Well, that does make sense, now you mention it. I just mentioned it as because when I saw that, I wondered if that's why you went to the other location.

Kind regards,
Suzy
