While Caroline has been recovering at home, I’d agreed some time ago to go off to Lowestoft for a few days with David and Jacqueline. The travelling for those days is getting to me, but I said I’d come from Friday to Sunday – as David was paying for the hotel room for me, as well as their own! Anyway, a nice weekend occurred – used the opportunity to get some new summer clothing too. David had also offered to purchase a new mobile for me, so I’ve now got a white & purple Nokia 5000 (plus an o2 USB modem as an upsell!) It was a nice weekend away, and I got back here early lunchtime, where C came out of the house for the first time in a few days!

My thumb is somewhat sore as I type this (to add to that I’ve also somehow managed to take the skin off one of the healing blisters on my right knee with the bed night before last) so you can have a look at the pictures taken over the weekend.

Interesting Suzy, your snaps appear to be inspired by the work of Willaim Eggleston at the moment.

You think so?

I had no idea who you meant, but according to Wikipedia, it seems to be a good match. C wanted pics of the hotel and views etc. and you know what I'm like with buses and trains. I also thought the bridge coming up would be a good snap (didn't expect it to happen as I finished crossing!) and some of the stuff is more everyday, ordinary.

What do you think?

The everyday, ordinary is great. The casual surrealism of the urban environment never fails to intrigue, there is a whole America school of photography like this, you would fit right in. i used to photograph the streets of Dundee, whole areas were built lived in for generations then demolished with hardly any visual memory of their existence except my casual passing. You would probably be amazed how few images there of the everyday amongst the billions of snaps of grinning drunks. Of the bus photo you are a "mistress", everyone sharp and detailed as if posed, do you ever miss?

House full wanted to leave me suffering while the visited another town because of my coughing, you were lucky she let you go!

Big wedding?

Caroline.

Hello Caroline,

I think that is a post in it's own - but thanks for the lovely words. You don't see all the ones I miss, mind you it's easier to get rid of them with digital!

On Friday, I did discuss how Caroline felt, and I was a bit worried for her. By the same token, I couldn't show her how much I loved her, as she was sore and choked up. If she'd been worse, I would have let it go - hopefully it will never come to it.

Not sure about the BIG wedding, but as we've both got a GRC now...
