On Friday afternoon, we drove via Bedford to Peterborough, Thorpe Wood Holiday Inn, for a couple of nights away.
Saturday was the Anglia Bus Forum tour that I’d put together, although part of it was on the Sunday (as well as the Peterborough Bus Rally) so it made it into a weekender. The Saturday trip was done by Forum member Chris Dobbins, with his partially open top AEC Routemaster, RM238.
RM238 arrives at Peterborough railway station…

… picking up at Acland Street Coach Park (for Queensgate bus station)…

… On the move, towards Grettons first…

… arrived at Gretton’s yard…

… which is also used by One Call Recruitment…

… a Whippet driver lives locally, and takes the bus back to Peterborough, parking here…

… Caroline snaps the engine…

… Emblings/Judds/Tydds next… former Yorkshire Traction Dart in use…

… where I get close to my (almost) namesake…

… this former Whippet coach has retained it’s blind…

… onto Whittlesey, Market Square…

… then Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, where the bus went for fuel. Upon return, 6 meets [citi]6…

… onto Wansford, Nene Valley Railway, where our conductor James gave us a guided tour of the yard and sheds…

… train shed overview…

… NVR’s Mail/Ale/Rail weekend saw the use of the Travelling Post Offices…

… ran back to snap as RM471 had arrived on the NVR – Peterborough shuttle…

… former London Transport stock too!...

… Thomas The Nene Valley Tank Engine…

… the train used in Buster…

… before dropping off to end the day at the railway station, and then Acland Street…

… a wonderful day out. You can see all the pics here…. We then went back to the hotel, and prepared for the next day, and much more of the same!
