Cambridge bus developments
Apr. 9th, 2010 06:21 pmI promised you some pics of the Cambridge bus scene. Following a package of service changes, and the introduction of 50 new British-built buses, AlexanderDennis (ADL) Tridents with AlexanderDennis Enviro400 bodywork, Stagecoach have changed the scape of the bus scene. The buses are powered with biodiesel, thus reducing emissions in the city. The citi brand, responsible for over 100% passenger growth since 2002, has been relaunched with a slightly tweaked logo. Most services in the area are now low floor, with some exceptions. So, here’s a few snaps that I took today…
citi1 (Arbury – Fulbourn) – was 55 plate Trident/ALX400, now brand new biodiesel powered Trident/Enviro400.

citi2 (Milton – Addenbrookes) – was a mix of MAN’s and Darts, now almost all MAN’s. Didn’t spot any double decks, although it’s school half term. This bus still carries the old Citi branding.

citi3 (Fison Road – Cherry Hinton) – was a mix of MAN’s and Darts, now brand new biodiesel powered Trident/Enviro400.

citi4 (Orchard Park – St Neots) – was a mix of Enviro’s and MAN’s with some Trident double deckers – still is, but now has the double deck workings changed to new biodiesel powered Trident/Enviro400. No change to the uni4 (Madingley Road – Addenbrookes) although it has received new Enviro200 midibuses, with the 06 plate Plaxton Pointers off to Peterborough. (I got one of these yesterday).

citi5 (Bar Hill – City Centre) – extended to St Ives via Swavesey and Fenstanton, thus replacing Service 15, which is withdrawn (except in the evenings, when it’s a Cambs CC contract). So, the very new Enviro 200 midis that were on the citi5 are not so much used, but now, the buses that were on the 15 – the single and double deck buses intended for use on the Guided Busway.

citi6 (Oakington – City Centre) – still Enviro200’s in the main.

citi7 (Cottenham – Saffron Walden, Duxford or Pampisford) – was a mix of MAN’s and some double deck work. Now brand new biodiesel powered Trident/Enviro400 (although some MAN’s do evening work.

citiplus 13/13A/X13 (Haverhill – Cambridge) Converted from Trident/President to 55 plate Trident/ALX400, these being displaced from the citi1.

One non-low floor route (I’m not sure about the 18 right now) is the 26/27 from Royston or Guilden Morden to Cambridge, which has the S-BCE Olympians – or at least, has had this week!

You can see all the pictures that I took today, here.
