Yesterday may have looked like a rather intensive day… but it was nothing compared to this!

I started the day up very early in Dundee. I was up and about in time for Megabus Volvo/Panther 54008, which was again on the M9 to Glasgow (also see Sunday). Traffic on the M8 into Glasgow was light, so we sailed through to the bus station, before I continued to Bath Street to get First Volvo 61391 on the 42A to Sandyford.

It was my first visit there for some time, and it was busy as ever. Three docs in, but Dr Ewan was away, and there was another new one as the third. After a brief checking of messages all round on one of the Internet access pc’s there (and seeing my Livejournal friends page crash the very delicate combination of IE6 and Windows98 not once, but twice!), I only had a few more minutes to wait before Dr Westwater called me in!

I discussed all manner of things, such as getting my subject-to-variation-date-for-surgery, the self-medding of recent weeks, work changes, and the new love of my life. He agreed to write a letter to my own doctor to ask them to prescribe me 2 x 2mg (per day) of Estradiol Valarate. Of course, by the time the docs get it, I will be off the “smarties” en-route to surgery, but it’s more for the other side.

After travelling back into town, I met up with Bobby once more. He got the whole day off today, and as I had until 2200 till the bus south, I had plenty of time too. We went for lunch in the Crystal Palace (pub in Jamaica Street Glasgow) before travelling via Dumbarton to Balloch, Loch Lomond Shores.

We’d talked about many things, including where the knickname for Silver Choice (the Silver Goose) came from (apparently inspired by the story of The Golden Goose), before travelling back to central Glasgow about half-past-six. He went off to pick up food to take home to his other half, and I had a look around the city centre.

Stopped at Glasgow Tourist Information Centre, and saw the lack of travel information, where there used to be a wall of them. When I asked, I kind of wished I had’nt. The person behind the counter gave me a double-sided A3 photocopy of last October’s First Glasgow mapmate (route map). No further issues have been made this year, but there have been quite a few changes since then! As First have not supplied any printed timetables, they were printing them off as required – after she found the First website via google.

The Cumbernauld express routes have recently had some more journeys added to them, but I also noticed the ten tri-axle Volvo B9 B7 double deckers have been moved to Cumbernauld to work these busy services. I fancied a try of one on the motorway, to see if the bus could keep the pace. 31509 took me, and a good load of others, on the X5 from Glasgow towards the new town. The bus ride was almost one straight out of the Bloodbus gallery, - as the passengers in front of me asked for their stop. The male chav then puts his suitacase over the wheelarch, and says to the driver “Here driver, if any c**t runs off with ma suitcase, you’re f******g dead by the way”. Hmm, don’t quite know how to follow that, but I didn’t – they’d gone upstairs, and there were a few more to load.

Yes, the bus did keep up quite a good speed on the M8 and M80, before we slowed down in the estates. The bus was heading for Abronhill, but I got off at North Carbrain/Tartbolton Road, and crossed over for older Olympian 31419 back to Glasgow.

I then hung around the bus station for a bit, watching the world go by. Evenutally, Silver Choice Bova SIL 9995 arrived, and parked up in the layover area. I got on in plenty of time, and a passenger invited me to talk with him. Given the number of weird developments this week, I decided to take the plunge. He’d not been back to Glasgow for many years – he works in east London somewhere – but he got drunk in (London) victoria the other night, and ended up back north in Glasgow. Once the Edinburgh feeder arrived, almost every seat was taken on the single deck coach – a contrast to Saturday night, but never mind!

There are just a handful, but you can see today’s pics here.
