I woke up around 0545, and could feel myself 'wet' - a feeling I'd not had for some time. Having stuck the light on to check, it was just the same source of blood as before, so no other problems returning. Although I don't have all my feelings there yet, I have felt soaked pads before, so I rang the bell for assistance. It was this point I noticed that a spurt of blood had somehow made it out my knickers, missing both pads and the one on the bed, onto the cotton bedsheets itself. No idea how that happened - nurse thinks it was from last night.

Anyway, they cleaned me up, but the stabbing pains started quickly, so I had to ring for painkillers. Currently trying to relax with the CD player, especially as a lot is happening today!

(I have been calm and composed throughout all - except when I woke up post-sedation in the recovery room and didn't know where I was - so it would be a shame to lose it all now. Now I am feeling a tiny bit better though).

blood is always a fright - i jumped through the roof every time i had a period for 20 odd years! (i now take a pill that obviates the bleeding so i have calmed down now)

and pain is always scary especially when you think it is meaningful. considering what you had done it WILL HURT! but it won't necessarily be meaningful outside of healing. take heart, you are so very nearly through the woods now.

Thanks to you too Elaine xxx *hug*

As I said to Kirsty, it's more how the pain makes me feel - it's not so much from the surgical site, just more where the body is trying to remap the area.

(Once I start back on the estrogen, that should help to calm me down further!)

You've come so far Suzy, stay strong! Of course, you will have moments where you feel panicked and concerned which is only natural but we are all here for you and giving our support.

All major surgery is painful so just make sure you get the medication you need.

indeed. the mind/body dialogue is never so active as in matters of surgery.
