Post-op life, and a new take on shopping

After a busy day yesterday (by circumstances), I decided to take it a little easier today. The dilation is working well, although it is the smaller of the two that I can more easily hold for the allotted time. I will try the larger every so often, and once the feeling of the stitch-in-the-way has gone (ongoing repair work) then it will be easy. After all, the tissue and muscles are still rebuilding. The douching is easier, now that I’ve got over the surprise of the liquid flow. I am finding it more practical, and cleaner, to douche after dilating instead of before, and it seems to work.
The main amount of pain is being caused by the catheter – mental and physical. During the day, I’ve been supplied with a flip-flow valve. These were a new technology on me, and are rather good. The only problem is, bear in mind usually my bladder would hold around 500-600mls within a few hours. It. Comes. Out. One. Drip. At. A. Time. The bag was reinstated briefly yesterday, and caused even more pain!
We had placed two online orders on Monday night whilst in hospital. The first one was due from Wilko last night between 1800-2000, but was sent out late, so was out today instead. Driver phoned for directions, and because it was in one box, I said he could come round to deliver anytime (I specified evening in case it was multiple boxes, and I can’t lift anything!). The delivery was in a box one metre square, which was rather heavy, but well packed. Once Caroline came home, I found out why. Wilko sell individual envelopes in their stores, and I had ordered ten of each of four sizes. I ended up receiving 10 shrink-wraps of 25 envelopes of each size… slightly unusual “ Buy 1, Get 24 Free” promo perhaps? Never mind, I will defiantly use them. I also purchased a stock of cotton towels (hand and bath) – small and cheap, but ideal for post-dilation clean up, and no worries about getting marks on them.
Later, Mr Tesco (as C calls him) came around – 2100-2300 slot, but he was been and gone around 2000 (he phoned to offer). We now have a rather large stock of kitchen towels (for post-dilation clean-ups – the Value ones are thin enough to flush without problems), and other food/drink too.
I was very tired by the end of the night!
