It’s not the most romantic thing to do in bed together, but before I nodded off last night. I checked all the connections and functions of the catheter link, to ensure that nothing would stick it. This even included moving the stand a little bit to make sure Caroline’s overnight duvet reclamation wouldn’t take the tube with it.

So, I woke up at 0215, feeling that I needed to pee. Obviously, I shouldn’t be. I checked the bag, and there was a little flown through – just over four ounces, and I had a bit more of the water. I then tried to over-ride my feelings with a sedative and two paracemetol pills.

I woke up again, four hours later. Only a tiny bit more has flown through. I don’t understand why. This is way beyond my scope – if the tube is there to drain, I can only assume something had obstructed it.

Caroline was still asleep, but her alarm is set for 0700, so I waited until 0640 before I woke her with a cuddle. I then explained that I was concerned about the lack of liquid coming from the tube, and that I’d checked everything, and couldn’t understand it. I’d left a message for Liz to phone me back, and I couldn’t see why.

When she got up soon after, she helped me swap over to the leg bag, and the stuff started flowing freely.

I presume there was some airlock or something stuck in the bag. After some coffee, I went back sort-of-to-sleep when C left around 0900, until the post an hour or so later. After waking up and having a bathe-dilate-douche, I could sort of see a blood clot coming out, but I don’t think that came from the urethra. Could be wrong, though.

Now, defiantly ok, munching on lunch, and feeling not too bad.
