Weekend Randomness
Nov. 4th, 2007 08:46 pm1. Yes, there are trains this weekend, going past the flat – passenger and goods wagons. Saturday saw a full service on the Great Northern i.e. London (Kings Cross) – Hitchin - Royston – Cambridge – Kings Lynn line until at least midnight, when buses replaced trains between London KX and Hitchin. Sunday morning saw buses replace trains between Hitchin and Cambridge, until 1030, then a full service resumed. It’s been a little different today, against previous ‘too quiet’ Sundays. Public transport at the weekends?
2. I had one antibiotic pill to take last Monday before my cath was removed, and I’ve just noticed that the packaging says ‘Take at regular intervals. Complete the course’. I got one pill.
3. Pain isn’t too bad right now, but is a little worse this evening.
4. Will need to do another pills round-up soon – but I can confirm I have managed to wean myself off the anti-depressants. I was on every second day since leaving hospital until Wednesday 31st October, when I had my last one.
5. Today I have been busy, working to update the Dundee Area Bus Forum (content, and some of the additional packages, as well as a general tidy-up) in preparation for something else coming along soon. Keep watching!
6. Do you remember some of my recent rants about the London - Aberdeen overnight Megabus service? The one on Thursday night into Friday morning northbound (Aberdeen based Neoplan 50148) burst into flames around 0700 on Friday morning on the A74[M] near Johnstonebridge, and all 68 passengers were safely evacuated. BBC news report here.
7. A few days before it, a train on the Docklands Light Railway in east London managed to somehow leave the guard behind. Naturally, no comments from TfL or Red Ken, but El Reg ran a feature on it. I like the response “A Serco spokesman said it was the first time this had happened…” while a passenger response was the exact opposite – i.e. it has happened before.
8. Thanks to
thermalsatsuma for pointing out that Apple have placed the trailer for the new CGI film of the Ten Commandments, under the ‘fantasy’ category on their trailer site…
