Busy times
Nov. 19th, 2007 02:51 pmYes, I’ve been busy over the last few days.
I’d picked up something (perhaps from Caroline who was similarly ill earlier), but by Wednesday early evening, I felt ok. (The swab and bottle sample from the docs came back clear, but I’ve felt better with the antibiotics, then this happened. No idea what’s going on in there!) So, we went out to Cambridge Retail Park to get a few more new gadgets. It’s going to get to the point where I have to ask C to hold off buying any more, just so I can get her Christmas gadget gifts bought and hidden away, avoiding duplication!
Thursday, I was in the middle of bathe-dilate-douche when Caroline came home mid-morning. She’d done well at work, and more, so they are working from home the rest of the day, and tomorrow. I tried not to distract her too much! The Ka required some attention to the exhausts (following previous problems) before the ‘new’ owner comes to pick it up at the weekend!
Friday, and Caroline was working from home, and I went out for a few things (more role reversal!) My second trip out on my own, this is the first non-medical one! Took the bus Service 24 into town from the end of the close (while we still can, see previous posts, it’s going down to once a week), I was one of three passengers! One of the elderly women on board was telling her friend/neighbour about her husband who is now in a home. Does this mean that the service fell below the requisite number to stay as a result? And, by the way, there was an article in the dead-tree edition of the Royston Crow this week which didn’t make it online for some reason, but it now quotes the number of passengers on the 17 as 1,200 a week, and increasing. Oops!)
Anyway, had a wander round, got a few things, and walked back home. Early evening, and I was cooking dinner… pre-prepared, although the reason I mention this was on Tuesday I think, when Caroline brought home a meal from Tesco… and I promptly cremated it, after tearing open the packaging with the ‘cook from fresh’ instructions, and I could only see the ‘cook from frozen’ instructions… so even though it wasn’t frozen… that meant it was a bit black! Tonight went more smoothly!
Saturday, and we prepared the flat for the arrival of Linda and Laura. We drove to Luton Airport early evening, and went for coffee while we waited. The Costa in arrivals faces onto the flow of passengers leaving security, so it was easy to spot. Stop for a takeaway at the local Chinese, and an earlyish night. Caroline was complimenting me on that long black dress of mine… again! She thought I looked v.nice in it… and the thing is, that thing seems to get more compliments than any item of clothing I’ve ever worn!
Sunday, and to wake myself up, pulled on a shortish skirt, and we had breakfast. Later, Caroline & I walked into town together, for the first time in ages. The short skirt was still on… now I know it was a little chilly, but part of me wondered if it was a good idea when I left! Never mind, it didn’t rain or get worse, so it worked well. It’s one of those short denim skirts that should reach my knees, but doesn’t! Caroline noticed I was getting whistled at by someone outside a pub, but I was insistent that she was the one getting the attention! (OK so maybe I was, but she would be more worthy of the attention!)
Late evening, I had one of these moments where everything went through my head at once. They are happening quite a bit at the moment, and can be upsetting. It’s the equivalent of wanting to get angry or upset, even though there is no immediate reason. That aspect of my mind will get worse in time, but I was fairly surprised that I managed to not feel like crap for the rest of the night, and actually, get back into a decent mood, and go beyond that to be rather… dear I say it… romantic?
So, today, and that bit of rough skin at the bottom of my rebuilding site is not healing (after a month). Liz H said it would resemble ‘a train wreck’, but I prefer to say ‘building site’. Lets face it, there is more chance of something positive coming out of a building site than a train wreck… but I digress… anyway, I’ve to make an appointment with my new docs down here, ask them to take a look at it. The left-hand side (my view) is a little loose, but the right-hand side is the one with the stitching/raw tissue at the base (again, looking from my view).
Other health – still coughing and choking up, but rarely. Other symptoms of other things seem to come and go, but now more coming. Start with genetics all over again, I’ve been recommended to ask for someone at Addenbrooke’s. All part of the fun of moving I guess!
