This one looks like quite nice an idea! The double-run to/from Bromley-by-Bow Tesco on the S2 has been known to cause problems, as it's on a very busy M-road. This would provide extra facilities, and a more direct service to boot - the 425 would also have double-deck buses, so a big increase in capacity. It also reminds me of when Capital Citybus first took on the S2 quite a while ago now, the route used new low-floor Darts with East Lancs Spryte bodywork, but also rather large destination blinds which were colour-coded depending on direction - some were the usual yellow on black, some were black on yellow. This was intended to make it easier to see the bus coming at the stop, for example at Bromley-by-Bow, and to see which direction it was going in, from a distance. Simple and effective, until the blinds started tearing after a few years (I can't remember how it happened, but it was something to do with the manufacturer).

Anyway... there is more information at this page of the TfL website.

"We are introducing new route 425 and making changes to routes 276 and S2. This is to make bus services more convenient, easier, more accessible and safer to use.

Route 276 would be rerouted to provide a more direct link between Stratford and Old Ford. From Stratford High Street buses would serve Bow Road (Bow Church), Fairfield Road, Parnell Road and Wansbeck Road where they would then continue on their current route. Buses would continue to run about every 10 minutes throughout the day.

New route 425 would run between Stratford and Clapton. This would provide new links between Stratford, Bow, Mile End and Clapton. From Stratford Bus Station buses would serve Broadway, Bow Road (Bow Church), Mile End, Grove Road, Lauriston Road, Well Street, Homerton Hospital, Lower Clapton Road and Clapton Pond. Buses would run about every 12 minutes throughout the day.

Route S2 would be restructured and renumbered to 488. Route 488 would run between Bromley-by-Bow and Clapton. From Bromley-by-Bow buses would serve Bromley High Street, Bow Road (Bow Church) and Fairfield Road where they would then continue on the current S2 route. Buses would continue to run about every 8 minutes throughout the day."
