Thursday in Oxford
Sep. 13th, 2007 10:07 pmI went into Cambridge, and went for the 1010 Service X5 to Oxford. This one ended up leaving well over twenty minutes late – for reasons that still aren’t clear, but may have been involved with many things. Coach was Volvo 52301. After a delayed driver change at Bedford, and roadworks at Milton Keynes (those weren’t too bad), we somehow made it to Oxford fifty minutes late – now I took a nap on the coach, so I guess I must have missed something! In fact, as I left Gloucester Green and started walking along George Street, the next X5 came in!

I walked into Magdalen Street, and found the two women from the back of one of the Cambridge ‘citi’ Tridents had made it here too…

… I then walked through the pedestrianised streets to George Street and Queen Street… spotted the sister vehicle to MAN 22278 (they both briefly ran in Fife before coming south), 22279…

… before walking along the High Street, and passing by Radcliffe’s Camera…

… to the Bodleian Library…

… then across to the railway station, where I snapped this Tube Neoplan on the way, in Worcester Street….

… and then at the station, I saw this former Lothian Atlantean open top bus, still running with Tappins on City Sightseeing work…

… before returning to Gloucester Green… X70, X80 and X90 rears, all lined up together…

… before former Perth Volvo/Plaxton coach 52387 arrived to take me back to Cambridge…

… we then got caught in traffic on the road towards Bicester, as the A40 was solid. We then got into Madingley Road Park & Ride about 20 minutes late, and C was there to take me back home.
Another long day! Tired, but happy. See all the pics here.
