Friday in Cambridge
Sep. 14th, 2007 10:26 pmAfter catching up with rest from the previous four days, had to go into Cambridge for a couple of things. Olympian 16109 was my bus on the 26 – I’ve been on this so many times lately, but this week, I’ve been on it five times in five days! It’s a regular at the Royston outstation of Stagecoach Cambridge, but it’s starting to get sad when I recognise every etched window upstairs!
Anyway, I had an hour in town, so I decided to have a wander around the back streets. Wherever you go in Cambridge, you will see lots of bicycles, and it’s important to ensure that you completely secure it…

… (sorry I just loved that pic!)… anyway, walking along Emmanuel Road (at the side of Christ’s Pieces Park), and I spotted work being done on the bollard. You may recall on Wednesday, I mentioned it was taking two buses just to get one through! Well, one side was closed off, and the other side had been ‘disabled’.

… and I returned to the bus station in time to see the once-a-week Service 334 to Puckeridge and Standon via Barley (a Herts CC contracted service) leaving the bus station.

I haven’t mentioned this yet, but from last Monday, all bays at Cambridge Drummer Street have been moved down one. Stance 2 is intended for the 334, but it was in Stance 12 – now the X5, formerly the H&D services. The H&D bus ended up in Stance 8, i.e. everyone was allover the station… not for the first time!
I got back to Royston on 16109 again! (the driver had taken the bus for his break), and there was meant to be someone coming to view C’s place, so I said that I would be in early enough… but no-show! So, we had a quiet evening in together!
